Coverage From the Brides Preparations in the Morning Through to the Dancing (Up to 10:30)

Capturing the whole wedding day. For a 1 o’clock ceremony, I’ll usually arrive at the brides house at around 10:30, getting the last of the makeup and hair shots before everyone starts getting into their frocks. In an ideal world, the bride will be getting into her dress at around 11:30-11:45 and I’ll be able to get some shots of her all dressed up and ready to go. At around 12 I’ll head over to the ceremony location so I can set up all my gear before starting to film guests arriving for the ceremony.

After the ceremony I’ll film the receiving line and the guests mingling around before they head to the reception. I’ll stay with the bridal party as the go for their photo session, this is the part of the day where I’ll be looking to capture some really beautiful footage of the happy couple. After that we’ll go the reception where I’ll film the craic with the guests before setting up for the speeches.

I’ll leave you in peace for the duration of the meal while I start backing up the days footage on my laptop

After this comes the cutting of the cake, and finally the dancing. I’ll usually keep filming for the first dance and the around 20-30 minutes of your guests getting their boogy on, or up until 10:30


Full Ceremony Filmed from multiple angles

I film the ceremony with a variety of cameras to capture as many angles. This give me room in the edit to create a dynamic and beautiful record of the most important moment of the day.

To capture the audio of the ceremony, I use various different microphones hidden about the place. I’ll always mic up the groom(and the officiant if they’re willing). I’ll have a mic positioned on the lectern to get readings and another mic positioned near the musicians. Finally I’ll plug something into the sound system of the venue, or if that’s not possible have something in front of a speaker


Full length Speeches filmed from multiple angles

Like the Ceremony, I film the speeches with 3 cameras. One camera follows the whoever making their speech, a second camera I’ll use to get the reactions of the couple, or to try and grab a shot of whoever is being talked about at that moment. Finally a third camera on a wide shot can see the whole of the room, so you can see when everyone gets up on their feet to toast the happy couple. CHEERS!

Again for the audio setup, I use a variety of mics and techniques depending on the location. Sometimes I’ll get an audio feed from the venues sound system, sometime I’ll mic each individual speaker or often I’ll tape an audio recorder to the venue’s microphone. Most often I’ll use multiple techniques so I have a backup


Drone Camera (Weather/Location Permitting)

I’ll get the drone up in the sky given any excuse, its a great tool for getting epic establishing shots of the various locations you’ll be on your wedding day. That said, there are often technical, logistical, or environmental reasons why the drone might not be able to fly. So unfortunately drone footage cannot be guaranteed


Extra Filming

If you having any dinner entertainment for your guests, e.g Singing Chefs, Magicians, Comedians, clips of this will appear in your wedding film. I do not generally cover this in full as this time is my only opportunity to charge batteries, back-up memory cards, and most importantly get something to eat. Also I find these performances difficult to film well without getting in the way of the performers, or the guests trying to enjoy it.
